Now that the Olympics are over, Paris can get back to being its usual grouchy self. Who were its inhabitants trying to kid with all that smiling and helpfulness? Emily in Paris (Netflix) is set midway between Olympics Paris and real Paris. Real Paris was horrible to the young American marketing whizz when she first arrived, but Emily (Lily Collins) stuck at it. Eventually, her indefatigable niceness and ability to accessorise won over the locals. Well, some of them. Her boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) remains magnificently aloof.
