Liam Scales will miss Celtic's home match against St Johnstone on Saturday, boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.
Scales has ever-present for the Hoops this season and has impressed his manager since returning from a loan-spell at Aberdeen. The 25-year-old would have been expected to start in the heart of the Celtic defence once again tomorrow.
However, Rodgers has been dealt a blow with the defender suffering an injury in training. It is thought the Republic of Ireland international will miss Craig Levein's Saints visit to Celtic Park but should be available after the forthcoming international break.
Although, Rodgers did have some positive news as fellow centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers appears fit and available for selection again following a stop-start campaign.

He said: "Liam Scales will miss the game we think. He's picked up a knock in training.
"He's been so robust and everything about him has been great since he's come into the team. So, sadly he misses this game because he's played virtually every other minute. But he should be back after the international break.
"That's been the biggest frustration over the course of the season not being able to put out our strongest XI. But the players have given me everything until this point.
"They have worked ever so hard and like I say, we can still finish off the season in a really high moment."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
