Zak Lovelace is facing two months on the sidelines after another cruel injury blow.
The Ibrox starlet has been ruled out of action with a hamstring dear after being subbed off against Royal Antwerp this week.
The 18-year-old had to be withdrawn in Belgium in the 3-2 loss to Antwerp with David McCallum suggesting the change was made as a precaution.
However, Rangers Review have now revealed a subsequent scan has highlighted an issue which will keep Lovelace out of action for another period.
The teenager had only just made his return to the Ibrox B team after months out following a nasty injury suffered against St Mirren in Paisley last year.
On his return from injury - before his new issue - Lovelace had told Rangers TV: “My motivation is probably the highest that it’s been.
“I just want to come back, do what I need to do, score a couple of goals, and hopefully look forward to winning a couple of trophies.
"I was jokingly telling the physio if we could skip the extra one or two weeks [of rehab] so I could get back on the pitch.
"I really wanted to get back as soon as possible, but I knew I had to take my time with it.

“I was in a dark space for the first three weeks. I thought, listen, I’m finished if this doesn’t go right.
"But I came back in training and there was a week it felt a bit tight, but fortunately I’m back to where I am now. When I started sprinting, I hit a couple of good speeds. I knew then that I would be back soon and I was so excited.
“I’ve been speaking to the assistant coaches, Alex Rae and Brian Gilmour, quite regularly and they have been giving me motivation, telling me that I need to leave my print when I come round to train with the first-team.
“The fans have been excellent and they’ve been messaging me with support. They’ve been telling me to keep my head up and that I’ll be back. They’ve kept my spirits high and I love it.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
