Jim Goodwin has officially extended his contract at Dundee United after a strong start to the Scottish Premiership campaign.
With his previous deal set to expire at the end of this season, Goodwin has signed a rolling one-year extension, ensuring his position at Tannadice until at least the summer of 2026.
This decision comes as the team currently holds a commendable fourth place in the league.
Goodwin, who claimed his first managerial trophy with last season's Scottish Championship triumph before signing 13 new players over the summer, stated that committing to Dundee United was “an easy decision.”
His announcement comes as a welcomed boost ahead of the Tangerines' home league match against Ross County on Saturday.

“Last year was an incredibly special one, and I’m immensely proud to have played a part in helping Dundee United reclaim their rightful place among the top clubs in Scotland," Goodwin said.
“I also have to reiterate my gratitude to the supporters for welcoming me from the minute I stepped foot through the door. That only strengthens my desire to bring more success to Tannadice for them to enjoy.
“However, it is important for our focus always to remain on the future and making improvements across the board, on a daily, monthly and yearly basis.
"We are trying to cultivate and maintain a culture conducive to prolonged success, and for this to be achieved, our talented group of players and hard-working staff must continue to buy into what is being asked of them.
“An exciting challenge lies ahead of me, both for the remainder of the season and beyond, and I am eager to embrace it with continued support from my backroom team and the board.”

Dundee United chairman Mark Ogren also praised Goodwin, who has previously had stints at Aberdeen, Alloa, and St Mirren, for achieving all his targets during his tenure so far.
He added: “I’m very pleased to have secured Jim’s services initially for a further year. This represents a forward-thinking piece of business by the club, as we allow an exciting, young manager to build upon the strong foundations laid by himself, with assistance from his backroom team.
"Jim has excelled since his arrival, meeting all targets set by the board of directors so far, overseeing our crucial return to the Premiership and embracing the club’s overarching strategy."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
