An anonymous businessman looking to invest £1.2m to save Inverness Caledonian Thistle is set to meet with directors of the club tomorrow.

An unnamed Highland businessman is willing to discuss a rescue plan for the League One outfit, who could face administration this month.

The Daily Mail reports that the entrepreneur, from Inverness, will meet with the board on Thursday.

The aim of the meeting is to thrash out a plan to help the cash-strapped club through until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The report says that a letter of intent was sent on Tuesday to request detailed information on the complexity of the financial situation at Caley Thistle.

It's believed that one condition of any deal is that the club will not enter administration, with assurances also forthcoming on current debt levels.

It's said that the club - currently ninth in Scotland's third tier and facing another potential relegation battle - is losing around £4,000 every day.

A meeting held last week with supporters warned them to brace for the eventuality of insolvency.

A crowdfunder set up online has raised £85,000 so far, with the club needed £200,000 to avoid entering administration in October, and £1.6m to cover costs until next summer.

The local businessman's £1.2m investment would be in return for 50.45 percent of the club.

The Mail state he has no current links to football.
