Celtic teammates Alistair Johnston and Auston Trusty are set to face each other on international duty this weekend.

The rare matchup will give Celtic fans an opportunity to see the club duo go head-to-head as Canada take on USA in Kansas City on Saturday.

Auston Trusty has earned his first call-up to the US national team in over a year, having joined Celtic on deadline day for £6 million from Sheffield United.

The 26-year-old was on the bench for Sunday’s 3-0 victory in the Glasgow derby, but has yet to make his Hoops debut.

Canadian right-back Alistair Johnston – who has cemented himself as a stalwart in Celtic’s back four - impressed in the Copa America, with Canada reaching the semi-finals under new coach and former Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is notably absent from the US squad as he recovers from a minor injury.

The 26-year-old was seen leaving Celtic Park with a protective boot on his left leg after Sunday’s clash with Rangers, however manager Brendan Rodgers revealed this was a precautionary measure and is not indicative of a spell on the sidelines.

Canada and the USA will co-host the expanded FIFA 2026 World Cup alongside Mexico, and Saturday's meeting will be the USMNT's first match since parting ways with head coach Gregg Berhalter.

Saturday could also be Mauricio Pochettino's first game in charge, as the former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager is reportedly set to be unveiled as the new US head coach this week.
