Rangers' recent loan signing Vaclav Cerny has expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Scottish giants, highlighting the warm welcome he received from teammates and staff.

Cerny noted that the friendly nature of the squad has significantly eased his transition, allowing him to feel like a vital part of the team from day one.

The 26-year-old has made six appearances for Philippe Clement's side thus far and has shown early promise that his addition is a shrewd one.

His positive experiences have instilled confidence as he embarks on this new chapter of his career - and he's determined to deliver an "amazing" campaign to all Rangers supporters.

"It has been great so far,” the Czech playmaker said.

“First of all everybody welcomed me so adapting to the team, to the squad and to the people around the club has been amazing for me.

"This has helped me to adapt quickly and be a part of the team, which is the most important thing when you come to a new place, so everybody helped me a lot.

"It is important to do it straight away with all the guys and it has been going pretty well. The squad is very friendly, so everybody gave me a really warm welcome and from day one it felt very positive.

"In the games I have played, it is what l have expected from Scottish football. From our side there are a lot of things we have got to improve but that is normal and it is good that there are things to improve.

"I have a good feeling about it and in the end there is just one thing I have to do and that is give my all. I think it is going to get easier and easier once l get used to everything around here, but I have a good feeling.

"I hope we can make this season an amazing one for literally everyone because I think this club deserves it. I am here now for one year and that is all I have so I want to give it my best and do the best we can as a team to make it a season to remember.”

Cerny netted his first goal against Motherwell on August 10, which was just a third Rangers outing for the forward. While he's also provided assists in games versus Dynamo Kyiv and Ross County throughout the month. 

He knows how much you are judged on your goal contributions as an attacker and was delighted to get off the mark so early into his Light Blues career. Adding to that tally against Celtic on Sunday would certainly help write his name in Rangers folklore.

"As a winger or an attacker it is such a difficult one if you have to wait for your first goal, so it was an amazing moment to be able to score in one of my first games,” he explained.

"It helps you as a player and it also helps the people around the club to see that I am capable of helping the team and I just want to keep doing that. It was nice to have an impact straight away and I can't wait to do it more.

"It is good to know there's more to come. But it is also dangerous because we are together every day so we all know there is so much potential here, it just has to come out.

"We have to show it to everybody and when the moment comes, I think we can do some nice things."

Cerny comes from a footballing upbringing and revealed his father had a strong influence on his journey that's taken him from Ajax to Ibrox via Utrecht, FC Twente and parent club Wolfsburg. 

"My dad was a player himself and when I was around the age of three or four he was already finished with his career and he started to train young lads in my city.

"I basically went with him all the time and kind of joined them. That is where it started for me and I never let go because it was something I was doing literally all the time.

"He wasn't exactly my coach, although he was my coach, and he still is, kind of!

“The talks we have together are so good and l always treasure this, that he is the one person that is always honest.

"It actually started back then, and we have never let go of this football relationship. He has already been here and he has seen everything here so that is important for me and I'm sure he'll find some time to watch some games too."

"Playing in one of the top five leagues was something I always wanted to achieve and after the things I had been through with two big injuries and also being 25-years-old, it just felt like it was the right time," the Rangers summer recruit added.

"I had a pretty good season at FC Twente, so it was my time to go for something bigger and try something else after ll years in the Netherlands. This came up and l was happy to be able to make such a step."
