Newly signed striker Zach Robinson is eager to make his mark at Fir Park and become the next success story for the Scottish Premiership club.
The 22-year-old forward joined Motherwell from AFC Wimbledon last month, where he spent the last two seasons on loan with Dundee.
Now, he has his sights set on filling the void left by Theo Bair's departure.
Bair, a Canadian international, recently secured a lucrative move to French side, AJ Auxerre, netting Motherwell a transfer fee exceeding £1.6 million in the process.
The young striker was a standout performer last season, scoring 15 times for the Steelmen. That form earned Bair a place at Copa America plus a dream move to a top five European league. A feat that Robinson hopes he can begin to emulate.

“Theo is a great player, I played against him last year," Robinson stated. "He’s a presence, he’s a good footballer and scored a good amount of goals last season. I’m a striker, I’m all about goals, so hopefully I can score as many as I can this season.
“Development is important for me. I’m 22-years-old I definitely see the way he developed. When he came in, probably, not a lot of people would have expected him to do what he did, yet he done it anyway.
"The gaffer definitely has a track record with strikers and developing them. Finding a gem that you wouldn’t expect, like Theo last year. Definitely he’s someone who can improve a striker and improve a young striker as well, so I’m looking forward to the season."
Injuries plagued Robinson's debut season in the Scottish Premiership, leaving him feeling frustrated after his previous campaign with Dundee was so successful, helping the club gain promotion from the Championship.
Determined to stay healthy and have a seamless transition at his latest team, Robinson says Motherwell's offer made it clear where he wanted his future to be.
"I don't think I had a very consistent go of it last year, I’m hoping that this year I can be injury free and get a good go at it this season," Robinson explained.
"It’s a very good group of lads. The club have made it really easy for me, helping me find a place and my way around the place. It’s been easy to settle into the changing room.
“I’ve not done an initiation song, we’ll keep that one quiet! I felt like this was the best place for me regardless of any other options that I had. This was the best place for me to develop, improve and kick-on in my career.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
