The St Mirren Independent Supporters Association (SMiSA) board have apologised over 'unintentional division caused' as they backtracked over a European ticket saga.

The group - majority shareholders in the club - had announced an allocation of away tickets for St Mirren's upcoming Conference League second qualifying round tie would be distributed amongst members.

St Mirren will face either Icelandic side Valur Reykjavik or Albania outfit KF Vllaznia later this month.

The SMiSA communication - released yesterday - was met with backlash as a portion of tickets would be distributed by the association to members meeting certain criteria - rather than every ticket being distributed by the club to season ticket holders.

After the fierce response, SMiSA have climbed down on the matter admitting a "mistake on our part" and vowing all tickets would now be distributed by the club alone.

Season ticket holder ballots for the UEFA Conference League away tie have opened - while priority sales, to season ticket holders, are open for tickets for the home leg of the European tie.

A SMiSA board statement read: SMiSA announced yesterday evening that an allocation of away tickets for the upcoming Conference League tie would be provided to SMiSA to distribute amongst our members.

"We asked the SMFC board to include SMiSA members who met certain criteria in the club ballot, then following discussions agreed to conduct our own ballot. This request was a mistake on our part and therefore all ticket allocations will now be administered by the club.

"Whilst we would only ever act in our members best interests it is clear that on this occasion both SMiSA season ticket holders and SMiSA non season ticket holders have aired their views and we shall respect that.

"We would like to apologise to our members for the division this has unintentionally caused as we lead up to an exciting period in our clubs history.

"The SMiSA board."
