Former Rangers star Borna Barisic has told Trabzonspor “he can’t wait to get going” as he reacted to joining the Turkish Super Lig club.
The 31-year-old left-back arrives on a free transfer after spending the last six seasons with the Scottish heavyweights at Ibrox.
During his time in Glasgow, Barisic established himself as a key player for the Light Blues, making 236 appearances across all competitions.
He was an integral part of the Rangers squad that won the Scottish Premiership title under Steven Gerrard in 2021 and he also lifted the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup trophies.
Reflecting on his departure, Barisic expressed his excitement about this new chapter in his career. "I am very happy to sign with such a big club like Trabzonspor," the Croatian defender said in a post on his Instagram account. "I can't wait for the start of the new season. Let's go!"

Then in a video published on the club's social media account on Thursday, Barisic said, "Hello, I am Borna Barisic and I am very happy to be here. I would like to thank the management, the president, of course our coach, the technical team and those who played a role in my coming to Trabzonspor."
Stating that he spoke with Mislav Orsic and Filip Benkovic before coming to Trabzonspor, Barisic added: "I asked them during that period. I also knew that some of my friends had talked to former coaches Bjelica before. Everyone told me nice things about the club, the city, the fans and how people really live for this club.
"I said how well we are supported here every day and definitely They told me that I would enjoy it. After seeing the facilities, stadium and everything in the videos from the club, it was an easy decision for me to come here."
Trabzonspor will be hoping that Barisic's experience and quality can help bolster their defensive options as they look to challenge for domestic and European honors in the upcoming campaign. The Turkish club finished second in the Super Lig last season, narrowly missing out on the league title.

With his move to Trabzonspor, Barisic will now have the opportunity to showcase his talent on the international stage, as he strives to return to the Croatian national team setup.
The arrival of Barisic from Rangers is undoubtedly a significant coup for Trabzonspor, as they seek to strengthen their squad and mount a strong title challenge in the 2024/25 season.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
