SCOTLAND assistant manager John Carver last night revealed that none of the players have packed their bags and checked out of their hotel rooms ahead of their final Euro 2024 group game against Hungary.

Andy Robertson and his team mates will make history if they record a victory in the MHPArena in Stuttgart tomorrow evening and qualify for the last 16 of a major tournament for the first time.

But Marco Rossi’s side can, despite the defeats they have suffered to Switzerland and Germany in the tournament, still go through to the knockout rounds if they triumph and they are favourites with bookmakers to prevail.

However, Steve Clarke’s men, who are based hundreds of miles away in Garmisch-Partenkirchen near the Austrian border, have not prepared to return home during the build-up to the massive Group A encounter.

Scotland boosted their chances of achieving something which none of their predecessors ever managed when they drew 1-1 with Switzerland in Cologne on Wednesday night and Carver said: “We’ve not even spoken about packing our bags, don’t worry about that.

“Nobody has spoken about packing our bags. We’re not interested in that. That is mentally important. You don’t want the devil on your shoulder saying ‘get upstairs and pack your bags’.

“We’re just planning for the game and going and getting the right result. Why wouldn’t you want to stay here? They are staying. Everything is staying. We haven’t even spoken about it.”

Carver added: “The guy who is in charge of our training ground is an English lad. He works for Leipzig. He came down and he’s been working with us. He’s a great guy, so helpful, he has given us everything we wanted.

“But he left yesterday and he said, ‘I’m coming back on Monday, I’ll see you on Monday’. And I said, ‘Absolutely, I can’t wait to see you’. I am as positive as they come, you know what I’m like.”
