Frustrated Philippe Clement admits his Rangers side were 'not good enough' to defeat Celtic in the sides' Scottish Premiership encounter at Celtic Park.

The Belgian watched his side go six points behind in the title race with two games to play after a 2-1 loss to Celtic at Parkhead.

The loss of John Lundstram to a red card in the first half shortly after clawing a goal back through Cyriel Dessers was a defining point in the game when the midfielder succumbed to the the derby red mist.

And the manager had no complaints regarding the referee's decision, branding the tackle 'totally unnecessary'.

He told Sky Sports: "We didn't start well enough, it was not good enough. We gave away too many shots outside the box and there were not enough defensive duels won.

"We started to play after we went 2-0 down. Then we started to do good things.

"Taking a red card makes things ten times more complicated. That's logical.

"After the red card, my team never gave up. They kept on fighting until the last second then something can fall out of the sky. We had a few skirmishes. You need efficiency or one guy who makes the difference."

Pressed on Lundstram's red card, Clement insists that while it was a moment of madness, he will not forget what the Englishman has given the team in recent times.

"I have no complaints on the red card," he said. "It's totally unnecessary to make a tackle there at that moment. Lunny will be the first one to know and it's a split second moment of wrong decision making but I don't forget all the things he did in the last couple of months."
