FC Utrecht boss Ron Jans brutally rated Sam Lammers as "perhaps the worst player on the pitch" as the Rangers misfit made history in the Netherlands.
The Dutch manager was critical of Lammers' display in the 2-2 draw with RKC Waalwijk on Sunday.
Forgotten Rangers striker Lammers - on loan in the Netherlands until the summer - endured a difficult 90 minutes on the road but popped up with a goal to snatch a draw six minutes from time.
And in doing so, he broke a Utrecht club record by scoring in his seventh consecutive Eredivisie outing. Jans was honest in his assessment but insisted he never considered taking Lammers off given his goalscoring prowess in the Netherlands.
The FC Utrecht manager said: "Sam was perhaps the worst player on the pitch for us, but I never even considered taking him off.
"He has simply built up too much credit with us for that.
"Sam is really a great striker. I sincerely hope we can keep him.”

Jans has made no secret of his desire to land Lammers on a permanent deal - but the player himself has given little thought to his future beyond the summer.
The 26-year-old is contracted at Rangers until 2027 having signed a four-year deal when he arrived from Atalanta in the summer.
On his future, Lammers said: "My only aim and thought is to achieve European football next season for Utrecht - I am not thinking about what will happen beyond that."
But fully in Lammers mind is the opportunity to finish the season with a ten-in-a-row scoring record should he net against Vitesse, Sparta Rotterdam and Alkmaar in the coming weeks.
He said: "If I managed to score in the three remaining games it would be great because I would have scored in ten matches in a row and also because it would mean we would probably qualify for Europe.
"I didn't play well, but as a striker, you are judged on goals so I am happy with my recent goalscoring run."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
