Frustrated Stephen Robinson has insisted St Mirren deserved more than compliments and taking confidence from their loss to Rangers.
The Buddies manager admitted he's grown fed up of narrow defeats to Celtic and Rangers as he claimed his side created enough chances to beat Rangers - never mind take snatch a draw.
Philippe Clement was complimentary of the display from the hosts in Paisley, as too has Brendan Rodgers been previously this season, but Robinson is desperate for St Mirren to take points rather than plaudits in their quest for European football.
"Ultimately, I’ve had a lot of ‘well-dones’ this season from top class managers," said Robinson.
"Philippe was very complimentary about how good we are, the style of play we have, and Brendan was the same a couple of weeks ago, but ultimately we’ve come out with no points from both games.
“We created enough chances today to win the game, never mind draw it. Their keeper made some terrific saves. The two goals are very much avoidable, two poor goals to concede.
“The goals were frustrating ones to lose. We have to be better than that and we demand better than that. All the ‘well dones’ in the world don’t get you points unfortunately.
“Every game that we’ve played, we’ve caused them problems. We’ve had a lot of compliments without taking points.

“We’ve taken points off Aberdeen, Hibs, the other big, big teams in the league, where we’ve been clinical with chances. We weren’t clinical today and we had enough chances.
“We don’t accept that. Previously at the football club we’d have said we were unlucky. We weren’t unlucky, we should have defended better. If we want to be a sustainable top-six club, which I believe we have the quality to be, we have to be better than that.
“We have to take our chances and I’ll demand that. The boys know I’ll demand that. It’s not, 'Oh we got beat by Rangers and that’s ok'. We want more. I demand more and I believe we will get more with the quality that we have."
St Mirren travel to nearest rivals Dundee next weekend in a blockbuster encounter which could go a long way to decide which club takes fifth place and European qualification come the end of the season.
On the trip to Dens Park, Robinson said: "It’s a completely different game against Dundee but take out those small indecisions and we’ll certainly pick up a lot of points.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
