Derek Adams has quit his role as Ross County manager after just 79 days in charge.
The manager took charge on November 20 but has now tendered his resignation from the club.
Adams walks out on the position on the back of a dire 5-0 defeat to Motherwell on Tuesday with County six points above Livingston in the table.
On his resignation, Adams commented: "After much consideration in recent weeks, I have made the decision to resign from my position as First Team Manager.
"Over my twelve league games in charge, we moved 6 points clear of the team directly below and have been extremely close to gaining more victories and draws along the way.
"Ross County Football Club is close to my heart after twice playing here and managing for a third time.
"I would like to take the opportunity to thank Chairman Roy MacGregor and Steven Ferguson and wish them well for the future."

Chairman Roy MacGregor added: "We have agreed to accept his resignation in the best interest of both Derek and the club.
"We would like to place on record our thanks to Derek, and we wish him well for whatever he chooses to do in the future."
A club statement read: "Ross County FC can this evening announce that Derek Adams is to leave the club as First Team Manager after offering his resignation.
"The County manager - who started his third stint as Staggies boss a few months ago - will leave immediately after the club accepted his resignation."
Adams had revealed he was considering his position in the immediate aftermath of the heavy defeat to Motherwell.
He had said: “I’ve got to look at the bigger picture for Ross County. It was in a difficult position when I went in and it’s in a difficult position now. I’ll have a conversation with the chairman and the CEO and go from there.
“I tried to come in and help but the club’s in a difficult situation. I’m not surprised and that’s difficult for me to say because Ross County is a fantastic club. But at this moment it’s in a real difficult circumstance. We are five points adrift now. We’re in the same position as we were when I came in 11 games ago.
“The problems are continuing. We are not getting wins. We created chances but didn’t take them. We have seven players out injured, the majority of those needing operations. The scoreline is a shock. At times we’ve had good performances and not got the result. But tonight we never performed well enough."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
