Philippe Clement has confirmed Ryan Jack won't play for Rangers against Aberdeen.

The Ibrox boss has opted against Jack featuring in order to build up his fitness and avoid another injury setback.

Similarly, Ben Davies won't be involved at Ibrox as he nears a return to action, while Kemar Roofe is progressing in his recovery but not yet ready to join group training sessions.

Leon Balogun has visited a specialist over his injury concern with a decision yet to be made over whether surgery is required to correct the injury problem.

Clement said: "What I can tell you guys already is Ryan Jack will not be in the selection tomorrow because he comes out of injury and he has a history of injuries. And it is only a short recovery times between the two games so I will not take the risk with him.

"We will build him with our medical staff, our performance staff over the next weeks and months to make him more robust so that he can come out of this cycle of injuries that he had."

Discussing Roofe and Davies comebacks, Clement explained: "Ben Davies is close, he trained already a bit with the team but he is not ready yet for selection and Kemar Roofe is also getting better and better but he is not training with the group yet and the two others are more long term."

And on Balogun, the Ibrox boss added: "Leon, I don't know yet. He is this afternoon with the surgeon to speak about the injury, what is necessary with the specialist to see if he needs surgery or not. He will also not be selected tomorrow."
