Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers has praised "living legend" James Tavernier after the Ibrox side lifted the League Cup against Aberdeen.

The Englishman scored the winner against Barry Robson's men as the Light Blues won the competition for the first time since 2011.

And Dessers had nothing but good things to say about the right-back.

Speaking post-match, he said: "He was already, but he has proved today he is a living legend at this club.

"Today shows that he can provide in these moments - in the semi-final and now again in the final. That speaks for him - he is an amazing player and an amazing captain.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement has issued a coy response when asked about Rangers' January transfer window plans.

The Belgian was speaking after his side lifted the League Cup for the first time in 12 years and he kept his cards close to his chest in terms of future dealings in the market.

When asked by Ibrox hero Ally McCoist on ViaPlay what his plans were for the January window, Clement responded: "I am not going to put an amount on that, but yeah we have ambition to do things.

"We know January is difficult and if players are performing well the club don't want to let them go.

"It's logical and the same for us. Maybe it will be players who played less, it's more difficult. But we are looking to make the club better.

"But also it is my job to make the player's better. It's ok to say we need five or six players and need this, this and this.

"I'm not that kind of manager - I want to invest in the team that are here."
