Josh Kerr leads the nominations for Scotland’s Athlete of the Year, with the winner being announced at the scottishathletics 4J Annual Awards ceremony at the end of the month.

Kerr became 1500m world champion in August and leads a shortlist that also includes his fellow world championships finalists Neil Gourley, Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie.

Completing the Athlete of the Year shortlist is mountain runner, Scout Adkin, who is currently ranked fifth in the world.

At the awards, which will take place in Glasgow on the 28th of October and will have Olympic and world medallist Eilidh Doyle as the guest of honour, three world champions will battle to become Para Athlete of the Year in the shape of Samantha Kinghorn, Gavin Drysdale and Ben Sandilands.

The under-20 award is between Natasha Phillips, Dean Paterson and Caleb McLeod while the Masters Athlete of the Year shortlist is made up of Andy Douglas, Paul Forbes and Alastair Walker.
