Joe Hart 6
A mixed night for the Englishman. Although his wall did not help, he could have done much better to keep the ball out of the net for Feyenoord's first goal. At times he did not look comfortable in his distribution but saved a penalty well to keep the game a contest before the second red card.
Alistair Johnston 5
The Canadian made a couple of crucial interceptions and tried to progress the ball well before eventually fading out of the game.
Gustaf Lagerbielke 4
After picking up an early booking, he did not look assured and was sent off early in the second half, giving away a penalty in the process.
Liam Scales 5
He fared better than his central defensive partner but also had some shaky moments.
Greg Taylor 5
The Scotland international was quiet and unable to offer a lot going forward, particularly once the visitors were reduced to nine men.
Callum McGregor 5
It was a match the captain struggled to influence at times and he faded from the action after a promising start.
Reo Hatate 5
The midfielder had an up-and-down game. He looked dangerous on the attack but there were several moments where he was slack in possession and put his team-mates under pressure.
Matt O'Riley 5
He gave away a needless free kick which led to the first goal. His passing was erratic at times despite having some nice touches.
Luis Palma 6
On a few occasions he made some positive runs but could not steady himself when he got into attacking positions. The winger showed what he can do in flashes and was one of the positives from the fixture.
Kyogo Furuhashi 5
It was a frustrating evening for the 28-year-old as he received very little service. The forward also jumped out of the way of the ball for the opening goal. He was always a willing runner but faded out of the fixture.
Daizen Maeda 6
The Japan international was a bright spark. His pressing caused problems and allowed the visitors to get further up the pitch while the game was even.
Substitutes
Yang Hyun-jun (for Palma, 58) 4
The winger had some positive touches but faded out of the match once he had to take on a more defensive role.
Odin Thiago Holm (for Hatate, 58) 2
His only contribution was picking up a red card which killed the fixture as a contest.
Tomoki Iwata (for Kyogo, 69) 4
He was thrown into the centre-back position after Lagerbielke's red card and did nothing wrong.
Paulo Bernardo (for O'Riley, 82) 3
There was no time for him to make an impact.
Oh Hyeon-gyu (for Maeda, 82) 3
He was another who had very little time on the pitch to have an effect.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
