Stephen Kingsley insists there is no reason why Hearts cannot turn around their Europa Conference League tie around in Greece next week.
The Gorgie side trail 2-1 going into the play off round second leg at PAOK following Thursday’s hard-fought encounter at Tynecastle.
The manner of the defeat was hard to take, with Lawrence Shankland having a goal ruled out for offside just moments before Andrija Zivkovic fired home the winner.
But defender Kingsley insists the players can take confidence from the way they played.
He said: “It was disappointed with the final result but we competed well, a bit frustrating to lose the goal so soon after scoring our first.
“We battled well throughout the whole game but just lacked that final bit, we were so unlucky with Shanks’ goal being ruled offside then it is so disappointing to concede soon after that but it’s a good strike from the boy.
“We have got absolutely nothing to lose now going into next week and after this game I feel like we have a real chance of going there, putting in a performance and going through.
“There were enough positives in the performance that we can take confidence going into next week and I think we can get better.
“It will be a tough one over there, obviously the heat and everything but we’re positive we can get a result in that game.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
