Rangers kick-started their pre-season with a 0-0 draw against Livingston today.
Michael Beale's side were skippered by James Tavernier and a number of first-team stars featured alongside some B-team players.
A club tweet read: "A Rangers side made up of both first and B Team players took on Livingston at the Rangers Training Centre in a training match this afternoon.
"The game finished 0-0, with Gers now heading off to an eight-day training camp."
Later this week, the squad, bolstered by summer signings Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima, will travel to Germany for a training camp.
On their return, Michael Beale’s team will host Newcastle in Allan McGregor’s testimonial match on Tuesday, July 18, before Hamburger SV take to Ibrox on Saturday, July 22.
Rangers will then face Olympiacos on Wednesday, July 26, before Rangers travel back to Germany to face Hoffenheim on Saturday, July 29.
Meanwhile, boss Beale believes Nigeria forward Cyriel Dessers will bring “personality and leadership” to his Rangers team.
Dessers became the sixth new arrival at Ibrox this summer upon joining from Cremonese on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
“We are delighted to have Cyriel joining our club,” Beale told the official Rangers website after the four-times capped Dessers had completed his move from Italy.
“He brings a lot of experience from playing in Holland, Belgium and Italy, as well as in European competitions.
“We were looking for a very specific profile and believe that Cyriel will give us a variety of qualities both in and out of possession.
“When we met, we spoke at length about his alignment to our style of play and the other forwards we have in our squad.
“At 28-years-old, he is at a good age and will bring personality and leadership to our team. Cyriel pushed extremely hard to make this transfer a reality and showed a huge desire to come here.
“We are very happy to have him and his family joining us at Rangers. He is an excellent addition to our squad and I look forward to working with him closely over the coming seasons.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
