Allan McGregor Left exposed by those in front of him and could do little about the opener. Wasn’t as busy as he would have expected thereafter before Kyogo beat him. 6
James Tavernier Was just as culpable as Morelos at the first goal as a weak challenge on Maeda got what it deserved. Suspect defensively for long spells but penalty to make it 2-1 was brilliantly converted. 6
Connor Goldson Another who was culpable for the Maeda strike. Recovered from that shaky start, though, and was comfortable for the rest of a solid showing. 6
Ben Davies A first taste of the Old Firm experience for the former Liverpool defender. Distribution was wayward at times but was unflustered when asked to do the basics. 6
Borna Barisic A typically mixed bag for the Croatian. Beaten too easily in some moments and deliveries had to be better but improved in the second half. 6
Glen Kamara Like his midfield partner, he had little influence on proceedings as Rangers toiled centrally in the first half. Showed more composure with and without the ball as the encounter elapsed. 6
John Lundstram Struggled to get a foothold in the game during a lacklustre first half but was a commanding presence after the break as he epitomised Rangers’ improvement. 7
Malik Tillman Selection in the middle of the park was a brave call from Beale and his appetite for the dirty side of the game could have been questioned. Didn’t let his boss down and he was increasingly influential. 6
Ryan Kent Put all the disappointment of a frustrating first half behind him with a moment of magic just minutes after the restart. Showed class and composure to make it 1-1 with a lovely finish. 7
Fashion Sakala One of the few to emerge with credit from the opening 45 minutes. Turned the game with his direct running as he set up Kent and then drew the foul from Starfelt. 8
Alfredo Morelos Had to score, or at least hit the target, with two headed chances late in the first half. Recovered from the woeful moment that put Rangers on the back foot early on. 6
Substitutes:
Ryan Jack (for Lundstram 70) Provided fresh legs when Rangers needed it for the closing stages.
Scott Wright (for Morelos 80) Added energy and kept Juranovic honest.
James Sands (for Tillman 84) Final change from Beale as Rangers failed to see it out.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
