Jim Goodwin admits Aberdeen's collapse against Rangers on Tuesday night was the worst feeling he's experienced in football management.

The Dons were leading the match 2-1 up until the 95th-minute.

Scott Arfield then bagged a quickfire brace to somehow steal all three points for Rangers as Michael Beale made it two wins from two games as the new Ibrox gaffer.

Aberdeen have now played both Celtic and Rangers since returning from the winter break.

Honest in his assessment, Goodwin opened up: “That is the hardest thing I have had to deal with certainly as a manager.

“I missed out on getting promoted in my first season with Alloa on a penalty shootout in the play-off final.

“What I felt after the game on Tuesday was worse, I believe in what I felt that night.

“Everybody was in a lot of f*****g pain, to be honest, excuse my language.

“It took a little bit of regrouping, where we have come together and tried to look at the positives on the night.

“I know that is easy to say and there aren’t many people who want to hear that but there were a lot of positives.”

Continuing, Goodwin insists he can't understand why Ange Postecoglou was upset with anyone clubbing Celtic and Rangers together.

The Irishman says it's fair enough that people may have that mindset because the Glasgow giants have had a grip on the Premiership trophy for almost four whole decades.

The Australian was unhappy with Goodwin's comments as he linked Celtic and Rangers' playing styles.

But the Aberdeen manager has told Postecoglou that it's not that deep an issue.

Goodwin added: “I am not sure why anyone would take offence to a remark like that but I think I just made the point that Celtic and Rangers have dominated the Premier League table for years.

“I don’t know the last time anyone outwith those two won the league. Is it 37 years?

“Maybe you can explain that to Ange and tell him that is what I meant.

“Unfortunately Celtic and Rangers have run away with the league for the last 37 years.

“I know he is only here a short time so maybe he just needs to look back and see what history tells him.

“In terms of comparing Celtic and Rangers, they have two different styles of play, two different managers but they are both very good teams.

“Ange Postecoglou has got his side playing a very attacking, entertaining and energetic style of football.

“Michael Beale is a new manager and will maybe take a bit more time to implement his ideas.

“I am a little bit bemused as to why he would be disappointed with that.”
