DESPITE losing their first goal in 13 league and Sky Sports Cup matches, Rangers remain top of the SWPL on goal difference following a 1-1 draw with Glasgow City at Petershill Park. It was also the first time either side had dropped points.

Both goals came from penalties in the second half. City top scorer Lauren Davidson beat Vic Esson from the spot after Lisa Martinez had got the slightest of touches to trip Emily Whelan after 52 minutes – with Rangers' response coming from Tess Middag 16 minutes later.

Worryingly for City, captain Hayley Lauder and last season's PFA player of the year Priscila Chinchilla were injured in a bruising encounter and failed to finish the match. Lauder was replaced at the start of the second half, while Chinchilla pulled up with a hamstring injury between the two penalties.

Their departures contributed to Rangers finishing the game strongly, but a Martinez header which hit the bar prevented it being ten wins from ten in the league.

Celtic took advantage of the draw to move within a point of the two leaders. Their game kicked off two hours earlier and they beat Hearts 3-0 at the Excelsior.

The home side went ahead after 16 minutes through Amy Gallacher and the lead was doubled by Olivia Fergusson just before half time. Gallacher made it 3-0 with her second six minutes from time.

Partick Thistle, who stay fifth, had their biggest win of the season, helped by Hamilton Accies goalkeeper Chloe Nicholson being sent off after just four minutes. She handled outside her box to prevent a goal at New Douglas Park and Thistle went on to win 5-1.

Hibernian beat bottom club Glasgow Women 6-0 at New Tinto Park and stay sixth, while Motherwell and Dundee Utd both moved above Hamilton with home wins over Aberdeen and Spartans.
