NEW statistics have revealed the best-performing goalkeepers in the Scottish Premiership.

UK-based football analytics and data visualisation company StatsBomb have compiled a list of Scotland's top-flight keepers based on their Goals Saved Above Average (GSAA) metric.

GSAA is the difference between the number of goals a keeper conceded compared to the total of post-shot xG the keeper faced - or to determine how many goals the keeper’s ‘shot-stopping’ either prevented or conceded relative to the average keeper.

So far, the standout figure in the league is Aberdeen's No1 Kelle Roos. He has enjoyed an impressive campaign under Jim Goodwin and registered a GSAA score of 4.65.

This ultimately means that he has saved his team over four goals this season so far.

This score is streets above his rivals with St Mirren's Trevor Carson (0.69) and Scotland international Craig Gordon (0.46) the only two other goalkeepers to register a positive total.

Celtic's Joe Hart is next in the performance charts (-0.26), while Dundee United's Mark Birighitti (-0.38) is also in the top five.

Rangers veteran Allan McGregor (-1.94) is currently positioned ninth in the league, according to the stats.

Hibernian's David Marshall is currently at the foot of the table (-4.30) with Dundee United's Carljohan Eriksson (-3.85) and St Johnstone's Remi Matthews (-2.54) just ahead of him.

It should be noted that the statistics are based on players who have played at least 600 minutes and includes Scottish Premiership appearances only.
