RANGERS have paid their annual tribute to the United Kingdom's fallen soldiers this evening.

Ibrox fell silent prior to kick-off in tonight's Premiership match against Hearts.

The game was Rangers' last home game before Remembrance Day this Sunday.

As is tradition at Ibrox, Rangers paid a fitting tribute to those in the armed forces who died in the line of duty, particularly those from World War One.

A full card display was held aloft in the Sandy Jardine stand.

A special tifo was also on show in the Broomloan Road end.

The message read: "Lest we forget."

Poppies are emblazoned on the teams' strips for the game tonight.

A number of armed forces veterans are in attendance at the game, as well as representatives from PoppyScotland and each branch of the services.

A wreath laying ceremony was also held at the John Greig statue attended by representatives from Rangers Football Club, the Rangers Charity Foundation, Royal Navy, Army and RAF, the American military charity Tragedy Assistance Programme for Survivors (TAPS) and PoppyScotland.

Poppy Appeal collection cans were dotted about outside the stadium too.

Gordon Michie, Head of Fundraising for Poppyscotland said: "Our Armed Forces do remarkable things to protect us and our way of life. Wearing a poppy is a way to show you care and that their service and sacrifices will never be forgotten.

"We are grateful to Rangers Football Club and their ever-generous supporters for their donations at today’s match, money will make a life-changing difference to our Armed Forces community and ensure our veterans receive the help and support they urgently need."
