THE SPFL have confirmed tomorrow night's match between Cove Rangers and Dundee has been postponed.

Governing body chiefs have moved to rearrange the match with the fixture postponed in a mark of respect following the passing of the Queen.

Cove Rangers were set to host Dundee at the Balmoral Stadium on Friday night, but the match has been postponed.

SPFL chiefs have also announced a wider fixture update will be provided on Friday - with question marks over this weekend's fixture list with a period of mourning in the UK.

The Royal Family this evening announced Queen Elizabeth  had passed away peacefully at Balmoral.

A statement confirmed: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

An SPFL update read: "SPFL statement | Friday’s game between @CoveRangersFC and @DundeeFC has been postponed as a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II earlier today.

"An update on the fixtures scheduled for Friday and Saturday will be provided tomorrow."

A Dundee statement added: "As a mark of respect, following the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II earlier today, the SPFL has confirmed that our game against Cove Rangers on Friday night has been postponed."

Cove Rangers commented: "Following the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the SPFL has announced that Friday’s planned cinch Championship encounter with Dundee at Balmoral Stadium has been postponed.

"Details of a rearranged date for the fixture will be issued in due course."
