A PATIENT century from captain Kyle Coetzer steered Scotland to victory over the United Arab Emirates in their ICC Men’s World Cup League 2 clash in Texas.

Coetzer made 108 runs from 142 balls as Scotland reached their victory target of 216 with 12 balls to spare at Moosa Stadium in Pearland.

The 38-year-old received valuable support from Michael Leask, who made 47 from 52 balls before being claimed lbw by Basil Hameed.

The United Arab Emirates won the toss and decided to bat, but were restricted to 215 for nine from their 50 overs.

Chirag Suri took 121 balls for his 69 before becoming the first of Chris Sole’s four victims, with CP Rizwan at least upping the scoring rate with 55 from 57 balls before falling to Adrian Neill.

Sole finished with figures of four for 27 from nine overs, with Neill taking two for 37.
