Allan McGregor 6
Forced into a couple of smart stops from Kamada and Knauff in the first-half. Left with little chance for leveller as Goldson allowed Borre to fire home from close range. Had no chance with excellent Frankfurt penalties.
Borna Barisic 6
A difficult night in the Seville heat for the full-back. So often a creative spark, the defender was severely limited in the first 45 minutes and often wasteful going forward.
Calvin Bassey 8
A standout performer in the final. A titan in the Rangers backline, and a player you wouldn’t be surprised to play in another final going by his meteoric progression at Ibrox.
Connor Goldson 6
Often a key cog in the Rangers defence but was reduced to long balls all night against Frankfurt. Should’ve cleared to deny Borre’s opener but left to Bassey allowing striker to pounce.
James Tavernier 6
Started uncharacteristically off-the-pace but grew into the game to lead his troops as he has done all year in Europe. Scored his penalty in the shoot-out but was ultimately left heartbroken.
John Lundstram 6
A man who has excelled all night on the European stage, but was left disappointed in Seville. A little clumsy in midfield and struggled to dictate play.
Ryan Jack 6
Capped his comeback season from injury with a Europa League final start but ended on a sour note. Bypassed by long balls for much of the night and not given time on the ball.
Glen Kamara 6
He’s gone from Sunday League to the Europa League final. Kamara is another who has completed an incredible journey to the top at Ibrox, but was not as influential as he’d have liked on the night.
Ryan Kent 6
Incredibly close to a winner in final minutes of extra-time but denied by super Trapp stop. Involved in some smart interplay throughout but couldn’t find the all-important goal.
Joe Aribo 6
Sent Rangers into dreamland with his opener in a moment that’ll last a lifetime, but was another who was limited in first-half. Took his chance when it came.
Scott Wright 6
Offered energy in abundance but was offered little service in a difficult first-half. Did well in flashes and created what he could with not much support.
Steven Davis (for Jack, 74) 5
Added needed experience as nerves grew. Scored from the spot.
Fashion Sakala (for Wright, 74) 5
On in closing stages, then cruelly subbed off again in extra-time.
Scott Arfield (for Kamara, 90) 3
Slotted into midfield for extra-time. Netted spot-kick.
James Sands (for Aribo, 101) 3
Solid as Rangers shifted to back three.
Kemar Roofe (for Barisic, 117)
Created huge chance for Kent in cameo appearance.
Aaron Ramsey (for Sakala, 117)
On for the final minutes. Missed penalty.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
