SCOTLAND'S Women's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine will now be played in Poland on June 24. It was originally scheduled for Lviv last month.

Prior to the invasion of their country, a majority of the Ukraine squad played their football with domestic clubs – most notably in Kharkiv with the country's top two teams, Zhytlobud-1 and Zhytolbud-2. Now they are scattered at clubs all over Europe, with the exception of 36-year-old goalkeeper Iryna Sanina and 17-year-old striker Inna Hlushchenko.

Former Barcelona head coach Lluis Cortes, who is now in charge of the Ukraine women's team, has helped facilitate loan moves to other countries. Six players are in Turkey and five in Spain.

The Stadion Miejski in Rzeszow will be the venue for a game which could see Scotland almost cross the line for the World Cup play-offs. Spain have already won Group B, with Scotland second, a point ahead of Hungary and six clear of Ukraine, who have played two games less.

A Scotland win in Poland would eliminate Ukraine, and effectively Hungary also ahead of the final group game against the Faroe Islands in September. The Hungarians play Ukraine, also in Rzeszow, on June 28 and then have an away tie against Spain in September.

Scotland head coach Pedro Martinez Losa was not available to comment on the Ukraine venue switch.
