RANGERS' sponsorship row with the SPFL appears to have taken a fresh twist in the aftermath of their win over Motherwell.

Scott Wright bagged a double for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side to set them on their way to reducing the gap on Celtic at the summit of the Premiership to just three points.

Skipper James Tavernier then stepped up from the spot at a sunny Fir Park, as Leon Balogun's early red card had little impact in the end.

As per usual, van Bronckhorst spoke to Sky Sports after the match to reflect on the game, as Rangers' impressive form continued.

However, unlike most of this season, the interview took place indoors in front of Motherwell's advertising boards.

Rangers' interviews with Sky on matchdays this term have tended to take place on trackside due to their ongoing battle with the SPFL surrounding the cinch branding of the Premiership.

The Herald:

cinch became the new official league sponsors, taking over from Ladbrokes.

However, Rangers dispute that they do not have to showcase any of the used car sales company's advertising due to a contractual conflict of interest with Douglas Park's own company, Park's Motor Group.

The Herald:

Rangers currently do not display any cinch advertising on their jerseys or around Ibrox Stadium as a result, with the matter is set to be settled in the courtroom.

And when van Bronckhorst spoke to Sky this afternoon, Rangers continued that by taping over the cinch logo on the advertising backdrop behind the Dutchman.

This was further highlighted in Graham Alexander's post-match interview, when the tape had been removed, with cinch's name on full display.
