FOLLOWING the silver and bronze medals won by Scottish riders on day one of the Track Nations’ Cup in Glasgow, there were no further Scottish medal winners on day two at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

In the women’s elimination race, Neah Evans cruised through qualifying in the afternoon session and had high hopes of grabbing a podium place.

However, a sizeable crash in the early stages of the final forced her to switch bikes before restarting, ultimately finishing in fifth position behind winner Yumi Kajihara from Japan.

In qualifying for the men’s individual pursuit, there were some impressive rides from the Scots.

Jonny Wale clocked 4 minutes 11.66 seconds to end up in seventh place while Kyle Gordon went even faster, taking a whopping two seconds off his personal best with a time of 4 minutes 10.465 seconds to finish in fifth place.

Their GB teammate, Charlie Tanfield, won bronze.

Today, the women’s omnium takes place and will see reigning world champion Katie Archibald in action alongside Evans.

Jack Carlin will line up in the keirin having won a European medal in the event in 2018.

The women’s individual pursuit also takes place and will see Glasgow teenager Kate Richardson, who has had a breakthrough season which includes winning bronze at the British Championships last month, test herself against some of the world’s best, with Evans also on the start list.
