KATIE ARCHIBALD and Neah Evans helped GB to their first medal of the Track Nations’ Cup in Glasgow on Thursday night as part of the women’s team pursuit squad that took silver at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Alongside six-time Olympic champion Laura Kenny and Megan Barker, the quartet faced Germany in what was a repeat of last summer’s Olympic final.

With the Germans having established a one-second lead after only one kilometre, the result was never in doubt and the result was a repeat of Tokyo 2020, with the Germans crossing the line over five-and-a-half seconds ahead to claim a convincing victory.

Evans and Archibald will be back in action over the weekend with the Sots teaming up to contest the madison on Sunday.

The British men’s team pursuit squad also took silver, finishing behind France in the final.

In the women’s team sprint, the young Scottish trio of Lusia Steele, Iona Moir and Lauren Bell finished in a credible sixth position on the back of securing the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard at the British Nationals last month.

Some of the medals up for grabs today are in the individual pursuit events, in which Olympic medallist Jack Carlin will likely be one to watch, as well as the always exciting elimination races.
