CELTIC RATINGS
JOE HART 6
Had nothing to do in 90 minutes other than pick the ball out his net when Rangers scored. His distribution was impressive throughout.
JOSIP JURANOVIC 6
A solid defensive showing from the Croatian up until his forced substitution through injury. Looked to be clutching his hamstring as he went off, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping it’s not too serious.
CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS 7
Kept Kemar Roofe quiet during the Hampden contest. Dominant in the air and in the tackle. Commanded the Celtic defensive line well.
CARL STARFELT 6
Another strong performance at the back from the Swede. Had to step in and cover on the flanks on a couple of occasions and did so well. Unlucky with the Rangers winner.
GREG TAYLOR 7
Caught out defensively on a couple of occasions in the first half. Took his goal brilliantly. Great touch out his feet before arrowing towards goal.
TOM ROGIC 6
Was not as influential as he was at Ibrox two weeks ago. Struggled to get on the ball as much he would have liked on the big occasion. John Lundstram got the better of him.
CALLUM MCGREGOR 7
Booked early in the match, but a typical display from the Hoops skipper in the middle of the park. Battled well and kept possession well.
REO HATATE 6
Grew into the game as it went on. Energetic throughout but never really threatened in the final third.
LIEL ABADA 5
Struggled to impact proceedings up until the hour mark when he was replaced. Borna Barisic kept him quiet, and the Israeli was forced into a mostly defensive shift.
DAIZEN MAEDA 6
Pressured the Rangers backline constantly with his pace and presence. Also put in the hard yards and tracked back when the opposition were attacking.
JOTA 6
Went close with a first-half header, but ultimately was a difficult chance to take. Never really got into full flow in an attacking sense.
SUBS
KYOGO FURUHASHI (FOR ROGIC, 57) 6
Brought a spark to the Celtic attack after being introduced from the bench. His pace and runs in behind gave the Rangers defence something to think about.
MATT O’RILEY (FOR ABADA, 57) 6
Got on the ball more than his teammate Tom Rogic when he entered the action. Looked a threat and had a couple of nice touches in and around the box.
ANTHONY RALSTON (FOR JURANOVIC, 67)
Defended well and bombed down the flank taking on James Tavernier and Scott Wright on several occasions.
STEPHEN WELSH (FOR TAYLOR, 90) 4
The central defender came on at right-back and had a tough shift up against Ryan Kent. Competed well.
JAMES FORREST (FOR MAEDA, 90) 4
Brought on for extra time and had a couple of endeavours into the final third as he cut in from the right flank. Final ball lacking though.
DAVID TURNBULL (FOR HATATE, 109) 3
On for a late shift. Never really involved.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
