DAVE CORMACK has hailed Aberdeen's shirt sponsorship with TEXO as the "most ambitious sponsorship deal" for the club.
The club had announced Saltire Energy would not be the shirt sponsor as the longest-running shirt sponsorship deal expires at the end of the season.
And it's now been announced that Aberdeen-based industrial services provider TEXO will take over the sponsorship deal.
TEXO will become the club shirt sponsor as well as having branding around Pittodrie, in the dugout and advertising behind the goals.
Kits worn by the club's professional sides and youth sides - excluding the Women's side who have a separate sponsor - will all feature the TEXO branding.
Aberdeen chairman Cormack said on the deal to the club website: “The official shirt sponsor is an important contributor to the Club and a significant investment for an organisation. At Aberdeen, we’ve been fortunate to secure some great brands over the years and to work with them in genuine partnership. We are looking forward to enjoying a strong and meaningful relationship with TEXO from next season.
“Rob and the commercial team must be congratulated for building a relationship with TEXO which has culminated in this, our most ambitious sponsorship deal.”
Aberdeen commercial director Rob Wicks, said: “TEXO is a strong and dynamic brand, committed to the local market, and we are thrilled they have chosen to increase their support for the Club, starting this summer.
“It’s already evident that we have common goals and shared values and we are looking forward to working together to ensure both parties derive maximum value from this partnership when it gets underway later this year.
“Like the Club, TEXO has ambitious plans for the future and believes in working flexibly, imaginatively and responsibly to deliver results.
“The rights package from the Club, that underpins this deal, will undoubtedly help TEXO achieve its goals as the business expands both in Aberdeen and beyond.”
TEXO managing director Chris Smith added: "We are proud to be the official sponsor of Aberdeen FC from next season. The Club is steeped in history and sits at the heart of the community to which TEXO is committed.
“There are many parallels between TEXO and AFC particularly in terms of how we build dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams, with creative thinkers, service‐givers and problem solvers.
“We are excited about this new future partnership with the Club and look forward to kicking-off next season.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
