NATHAN PATTERSON shrugged off the impact of Steven Gerrard's Rangers exit as he scored one and set-up the other for Scotland.
The Ibrox full-back insisted he's taken the news of Gerrard's move to Aston Villa 'in his stride' despite hearing of it from Spain.
Patterson, 20, was with the Scotland squad when the move was finalised but he showed he wasn't affected by putting in a top performance for the national team.
Asked for his thoughts on a strange week, he said: "That's just football.
"Things happen week-by-week so you just need to take that in your stride.
"I've done that my whole career, and it's paid off."
Patterson scored the opener in the crucial 2-0 win over Moldova before teeing up Che Adams to secure the win.
But he was further involved in the match as he was booked, meaning he'll miss the match with Denmark, before he was penalised for a handball with Moldova awarded a penalty.
Thankfully, Craig Gordon produced a massive save to keep the Tartan Army from a nervy final few minutes.
"(I'm) just buzzing really", said Patterson after the match. "We came to get the three points and we've done that. It was a good team performance."
On his goal and assist he added: "Me and John have linked up well I've went through, kept my head, kept it low and it's went in so I was buzzing.
"To get the second it kills the game off, another bit of good link-up play from me and John and Che was there to put it in the net.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
