RANGERS have confirmed supporters must bring proof of their Covid vaccination status to gain entry to Ibrox.
The club confirmed fans must prove they have been vaccinated before being allowed to enter the stadium under Scottish Government rules, which kikc-in on October 1.
Fans will have to ensure they prove their vaccine status if they are spot-checked at the stdaium since it is a venue with more than 10,000 people.
Under Scottish Government guidelines being fully vaccinated means having received both doses, if required, of the vaccine for more than two weeks.
There are a few groups exempt from proving their vaccination status, they are: Under 18’s, people who are not able to receive the vaccine for medical reasons, participants in vaccine trials, and workers or volunteers at the venue or event.
However those exempt on medical grounds or through participation in a trial must carry an official letter confirming their reason for exemption.
A Rangers statement on the club website read: "Ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match against Hibernian, Rangers would like to update supporters on the introduction of vaccine certificate checks across Scotland.
"From October 1, following legislation introduced by the Scottish Government, everyone attending matches at Ibrox Stadium must be fully vaccinated and everyone must bring proof of this status with you to the match, unless exempt.
"According to Scottish Government guidelines, fully vaccinated means '… vaccinated with a MHA recognised vaccine in line with the MHA recommended number of doses for the vaccine used, and two weeks have passed for the vaccine to take effect'.
"Supporters are encouraged to arrive with a hard copy of their vaccine certificate, however digital copies will also be accepted. Visitors from all parts of the UK will be able to use their existing vaccine certificates.
"Those exempt for medical reasons or due to participation in vaccine trials are asked to carry an official letter to confirm this. You will not be admitted to the stadium without this.
"Covid status certification does not replace existing measures and supporters are encouraged to continue to wear face coverings and follow test and protect rules and guidance.
"Rangers are obliged to follow legislation. We appreciate supporters cooperation at this time."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
