DAVID TURNBULL says relentless Celtic fancy themselves against anyone as they gear up for two crucial matches in the next week.

Turnbull, who hit a hat-trick in the 6-0 demolition of St Mirren yesterday, says that the Celtic players are hugely confident ahead of the return leg of their Europa League play-off tie against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night, and the first Old Firm meeting of the season next Sunday at Ibrox.

And while the midfielder acknowledges those games will present a tougher challenge than the one presented by St Mirren, they are going into them buoyed by the way that manager Ange Postecoglou has them playing.

“It's a huge week for us and we'll focus on Thursday first,” Turnbull said. “They're a good side, they played well here.

“We have to combat that and play the way we know we can. We want to get the result we need to qualify.

“We feel we're ready to go and win both games. It's a huge week, Thursday, Sunday, against two good teams. But the way we're playing at the moment, we fancy ourselves against anyone.

“It's just about taking that into the games and we're looking forward to it. The manager won't change the way we're playing for these two games. This is the way we want to play.

“He's drilled that into us so we'll go and play the way we have been looking to get a result.”

Turnbull was delighted to hit the first hat-trick of his career against St Mirren, but he feels there is still a lot of improvement left in him individually, and the Celtic team collectively.

“I've been close a few times but I was delighted to get that third one, it was a great feeling,” he said.

“I still think there's more to come from me. Today was a great game for me personally and the team.

“But we're playing brilliantly well at the moment. I just want to keep doing what I'm doing and add even more.

“The form we've come into this season is outstanding and relentless. It's great to play in and everything is clicking right now.

“Long may it continue.”
