THE SCOTTISH FA are set to make 18 members of staff redundant as part of a cost-cutting exercise to combat the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports.

The national association are projected to make a £4.5m loss next year, with the governing body already losing out on revenue from cup games and international fixtures being played behind closed doors at Hampden and fans still banned from attending.

The SFA secured a £5m loan from Santander last month by utilising the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan scheme to address the monetary shortfall but according to the Daily Mail, a consultation period into a new round of job cuts was initiated earlier this week.

The report says that the SFA have conducted a "strategic review of the functions they perform and how they do them in recent months", adding that every department could be affected by the job cuts - including Malky Mackay's performance set-up.
