Highland League side Fort William were forced to halt their midweek training - after the session was invaded by a pair of stags.

Footage posted on social media shows the animals charging around the club’s Claggan Park as players braved the freezing conditions to train ahead of this weekend’s clash with Lossiemouth.

The video quickly racked up more than 14,000 likes as Twitter users responded with a slew of puns.

The club were the focus of a BBC documentary earlier this season after being branded ‘Britain’s worst football team’.

However, in September they ended an 882-day wait for a league win by beating Clachnacuddin 1-0 courtesy of a goal by teenage midfielder Jack Brown - on of nine players on loan from Championship outfit Inverness Caledonian Thistle. 

The Fort remain rooted to the bottom of the Highland League, but a raft of postponements means they have played six matches less than second-bottom Lossiemouth.
