JACK ROSS is set to be unveiled as the new Hibernian manager later today, Queen's Park have ended their amateur status after 152 years and Celtic's Lee O'Connor grabbed an assist on his international debut for Ireland.
Hibs to appoint Ross
Former Alloa, St Mirren and Sunderland manager Jack Ross is expected to be unveiled as Paul Heckingbottom's successor later today. The 43-year-old was sacked by Sunderland last month and is finalising terms on his deal to take the reins at the Leith club.
Historic vote ends Queen's Park's amateur status
Scotland's oldest football club, Queen's Park, will now be able to offer players professional and semi-professional contracts following a landmark vote by its members last night. The Glasgow club were the last remaining amateur side in the SPFL and have avoided going professional since the club was founded in 1867.
Hearts interview McCann and McCall
With the search for Craig Levein's successor at Hearts well and truly under way, the Scottish Sun are reporting that former Dundee manager Neil McCann and ex-Motherwell and Rangers boss Stuart McCall have both been interviewed for the vacancy at Tynecastle. Interim manager Austin MacPhee has also been considered, as has former Reading manager Steve Cotterill.
Bogdan set for Easter Road return
Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is on the verge of completing a return to Hibernian, according to the Daily Record. The 32-year-old spent last season on loan at Easter Road and was released by Liverpool in the summer, and is reportedly "close to agreeing terms" to seal is return to the capital.
Elhamed ruled out of League Cup final
Celtic defender Hatem Abd Elhamed has been ruled out of contention for a place in Neil Lennon's Celtic side for next month's League Cup final. The Scottish Sun believe that the Israeli will miss the next six weeks after picking up a groin injury during Celtic's 2-1 win over Lazio last week and will therefore play no part in the Hampden final.
Celtic must brace themselves for Edouard bids, says Hartson
Former Celtic striker John Hartson expects approaches for Odsonne Edouard, the 21-year-old French forward who has starred for his old club this season. "The offers will come in and it’s then up to Celtic what they do,” Hartson said. "He’s on a long-term contract so Celtic won’t be too worried, but he wouldn’t go for cheap, that’s for sure."
O'Connor marks international debut with assist
Celtic defender Lee O'Connor was handed his senior international debut by Mick McCarthy and picked up an assist in Ireland's 3-1 friendly win over New Zealand. The 19-year-old joined Celtic from Manchester United on transfer deadline day but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Scottish champions.
