Kent stars for Liverpool
Rangers target Ryan Kent starred for Liverpool in the club’s latest pre-season friendly, having a hand in all three of his side’s goals in a 3-1 win over Bradford City. The Scottish Sun believe that Jurgen Klopp has been “majorly impressed” with Kent’s performance and believe that the winger will be given further opportunities against Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon in the coming weeks.
Deila: Tierney can follow Van Dijk’s example
Ex-Celtic manager Ronny Deila, who gave Kieran Tierney his debut for the Parkhead club, believes that the full-back can use Virgil Van Dijk’s success in England as a template amid Arsenal’s interest in the Scotland international. Deila told the Scottish Sun: “Virgil, of course, has gone on to a different level since leaving Celtic, but at the time I worked with them both Kieran was even better.”

Manchester City winger Thomas Agyepong - who spent last season on loan at Easter Road - is a target for Kilmarnock as manager Angelo Alessio looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming campaign. The Daily Record are reporting that Agyepong could be heading to Ayrshire on a one-year loan.
Former team-mate backs Morelos to move to England
Rops Rovaniemi midfielder Lucas Lingman reckons that his “crazy” former team-mate Alfredo Morelos is good enough to flourish in the English Premier League. Lingman, who played alongside the Colombian at HJK Helsinki, said: “If he continues to score at the rate he has done in Scotland then he can win a move to a bigger club in England. Of course he can.”
Levein rules out Morrison move
Hearts manager Craig Levein says that the club are not interested in signing former West Brom midfielder James Morrison, report the Scottish Sun. Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen have all been linked with a move for the 33-year-old free agent but Levein said he is not pursuing the Scot’s signature - although admitted he would like to recruit another midfielder.

Former Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson, who recently won promotion to Italy’s Serie A with Hellas Verona, is optimistic that Steve Clarke will come to Italy to watch him as he pursues an international call up for Scotland. “I would love to play for Scotland because it’s very important to me,” admitted Henderson. “I hope Steve Clarke will come and watch some games in Verona.”
Stevie May to Dundee?
The Daily Record are reporting that Dundee have jumped to the front of the queue to sign Aberdeen striker Stevie May, because they are willing to sign the forward on a permanent deal. Bruce returns to Rugby Park
Alex Bruce has signed a one-year deal at Kilmarnock, according to the Daily Record. The 34-year-old was out of contract after spending the second half of last season on loan at Rugby Park.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
