SCOTT BAIN: Good block early on as he stood tall to deny Sarajevo, who had got in on the counter. No chance at the home side’s goal, but had little else to do after that. 6
KRISTOFFER AJER: Deployed at right-back and looked a little uncomfortable at times in the first half, but settled down as the game went on and made a couple of vital tackles. Got forward once or twice too. 6
NIR BITTON: In at centre-half with Christopher Jullien still not fully up to speed. Did ok defensively and was the starting point for many of Celtic’s attacks, but not physically dominating enough to play at the heart of the defence long-term. 6
JOZO SIMUNOVIC: Posted missing at the Sarajevo goal when Celtic were relying on him to be the dominating presence defending set-pieces, but did well enough apart from that. Decent on the ball and recovered from early setback to marshal the defence well. 6

BOLI BOLINGOLI: Showed plenty of adventure from left-back, bombing forward at will and throwing over some good crosses, as well as a few misplaced ones. Looked solid enough defensively too until his debut was brought to a premature end 10 minutes after the break as he pulled up with an injury. 7
SCOTT BROWN: Great interception set Celtic on their way to their second goal, and screened the backline well, cutting off the supply to Sarajevo’s lone frontman. Once Celtic were level, their skipper had the cigars out. 7
CALLUM MCGREGOR: Couple of uncharacteristically stray passes in opening stages, but regained his composure and kept things ticking over in middle of the park in his usual exemplary style. So much flows through him, and he looked fresh again after a short break at the end of his 69-game campaign. 7
JAMES FORREST: Was quiet in the early stages but showed great feet to fashion an opportunity that he put over with the outside of his boot. Had a few runs at his full-back and was a threat, despite not being at his best. 6
RYAN CHRISTIE: Caused all sorts of problems in behind Edouard and was lively throughout. Fed the ball through to Edouard for the second Celtic goal and showed just what Celtic had been missing towards the end of the season as he sat out through injury. 7
MIKEY JOHNSTON: Youngster has been sensational in pre-season and showed that he has a final product too here as he conjured up a stunner put Celtic back on terms. Over and above the goal, he showed wonderful close control and a willingness and ability to take the ball in tight areas before being forced off with a knock. 8

ODSONNE EDOUARD: Was a peripheral figure in the first half for the most part and was culpable at Sarajevo goal as he shirked a chance to block the shot. Made up for it at the right end of the park in second half though with fine, composed finish to put Celtic ahead, and looked much more like his old self after that. 7
SUBSTITUTES:
JONNY HAYES: On for the injured Bolingoli and slotted in well enough at left-back. 5
LEWIS MORGAN: Showed a real eagerness to get on the ball and make an impact, and he certainly did that as he showed great skill to set up Sinclair for Celtic’s killer third. 6
SCOTT SINCLAIR: Off the bench and amongst the goals as he produced an impudent backheel finish to all-but kill off the tie with Celtic’s third. 6
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
