MOTHERWELL are determined to hold out for their £3million asking price for David Turnbull after warding off advances from Barnsley and Celtic for the midfielder.

The English Championship side made an official bid for the 19-year-old in the past 24 hours, but while reports suggested that offer to be in the region of £2million, Herald Sport understands the figure was someway short of that, and a long way short of the Fir Park club’s valuation.

No official offer has yet to arrive from Celtic, but discussions between the clubs have been ongoing. Motherwell have made it clear to the Scottish champions though that an initial informal seven-figure offer of their own – believed to be worth more than Barnsley’s offer – is still a long way from getting a deal over the line.
