Neil Lennon is the right man for Celtic - Peter Lawwell

Peter Lawwell has backed Neil Lennon as the right man to manage Celtic. Speaking after the historic Scottish Cup win, he backed Lennon because he can handle the pressure of trying to deliver 10 titles in a row. (The Times) Speaking to the Sun, Neil Lennon insists he will not be a soft touch in talks over his personal terms and the club's transfer budget as he mulls an offer to become the permanent Celtic manager.

No major rebuild at Celtic needed 

Celtic's Peter Lawwell does not believe the Celtic squad needs a major rebuild this summer. He said: "We still have a core of a lot of good players. I think people are maybe overestimating what we need to do or overstating it.

“But we understand that we need to be better, we need to be stronger and that will be our intention in the summer. We won’t stand still. Listen, we’re not dependent on another club, we’re independent. We want to make Celtic as best as it possibly can be. That’s our desire, it’s our need and that’s what we’re going to do.” (Scotsman) 

Rangers target hands in transfer request 

George Edmundson has requested a transfer after Oldham turned down an increased offer from Rangers for the defender.  The Ibrox club had an initial bid for the defender - believed to be in the region of £450,000 - rejected last week, and a subsequent offer of £500,000 has now also been knocked back with the Boundary Park club hoping to start a bidding war for the 21-year-old. Filip Benkovic keen on Celtic return

Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic is open to another loan spell at Celtic next season. The defender has had an initial chat with his manager at parent club Leicester City, Brendan Rodgers, about his plans for him next term, but while nothing has yet been decided, the Croatian isn’t ruling out a return to Glasgow. Mikael Lustig set to depart Celtic?

Neil Lennon has said he hopes Mikael Lustig has not played his last game for Celtic, with the 32-year-old Swede out of contract this summer. (Sun)

Craig Levein backs Hearts for a trophy

Hearts, who lost to Celtic in Saturday's Scottish Cup final, are four signings away from being a real force next season, says manager Craig Levein. He said: “Is there a trophy in this group of players? Absolutely. Absolutely. I take great heart from knowing what is happening at the club, the young players we’ve got coming through. There’s not just one or two, there are dozens of them, in all honesty." (Various) 

Christophe Berra accuses Scott Brown of 'lacking class'

Hearts captain Christophe Berra has criticised Celtic's Scott Brown for his celebrations in Saturday's final at Hampden. He said: “Scott is a good player, but he is using his dominance in the league a wee bit and there is a wee bit of cockiness. They (Celtic) have earned it but sometimes you should just show a bit of respect and get on with it." (The Herald)

Lennon has pledged to ensure Celtic withstand the Rangers revival and remain the dominant force in Scottish football as well as get the Parkhead club back into the Champions League during his second spell as manager.
