SCOTT BAIN: Very little to do over the course of the afternoon, with Aberdeen failing to register a shot on target. 6
MIKAEL LUSTIG: Spent most of the game on the front foot and was rarely stretched in a defensive sense. Comfortable shift for the Swede, even if delivery let him down a little on occasion. 6
JOZO SIMUNOVIC: Defender almost scored twice in early stages, bringing out a fine save from Lewis after a mazy run and then putting the ball wide from six yards. Had the cigars out at the back too. 7
KRISTOFFER AJER: Handled the aerial duel with Cosgrove well and always willing to carry the ball out of defence to contribute to the attack. 7
KIERAN TIERNEY: Usual adventurous approach up the left wing for Celtic, but also snuffed out the threat of Connor McLennan going the other way too. And that’s him not fully fit. 7
SCOTT BROWN: Strolled through the afternoon, using the ball well and getting stuck into the physical battle as and when required. 7
CALLUM MCGREGOR: Such a clever player, with so much of what Celtic did in an attacking sense flowing through him. Picked up space seemingly at will and used the ball really well when he had it. Getting back to his very best. 8
JAMES FORREST: Drifted over to the left to get involved in the play but was booked for simulation while cutting inside from that position after a drifting past Considine. His day would get better though, hitting a fabulous opener and then given a rest with Celtic on cruise control. 8
RYAN CHRISTIE: Was providing good balance to the Celtic midfield when his game was brought to a shuddering halt by a wild challenge from Dominic Ball that saw the attacker stretchered off with a facial injury. 6
JONNY HAYES: Given another start under Neil Lennon on the left and contributed to the game positively. Helped Tierney defensively and used the ball well in attack. Ghosted in on the wrong side of Devlin to win the penalty for the second goal. 7
ODSONNE EDOUARD: Cut a frustrated figure at times, mostly with referee Craig Thomson for the physical attention he was receiving from the Aberdeen defenders, but calmly slotted home the penalty to kill the game as a contest when his chance arrived. 7
SUBSTITUTES:
TOM ROGIC: On for Christie and after being fouled for Ferguson to see red, hit Celtic’s third with a fine effort from distance. 7
SCOTT SINCLAIR: On for last quarter of an hour and had a couple of opportunities that he failed to convert. 4
TIMOTHY WEAH: Arrived at same time as Sinclair and tried to get involved, but no real chance to make an impression. 4
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
