Ross Laidlaw: Endured a fairly dismal day. Could perhaps have got a stronger paw on Lustig’s opener and the second was hands-on-the-head stuff. Laidlaw redeemed himself with a couple of blocks later on 4
David Gray: It wasn’t a good day for the shoogly Hibs rear guard as a whole and Gray will hold his hands up for allowing Lustig to escape his clutches at the second Celtic goal. Replaced at half-time 4
Paul Hanlon: The Hibernian skipper put in a couple of sturdy challenges to keep Celtic at bay but, like his team-mates, will be cursing the goals the Edinburgh side leaked 5
Marvin Bartley: Not one of his finest hours as the Hibernian defence looked disjointed and indecisive throughout. His removal from proceedings at half-time summed it up 5
John McGinn: Put in his usual busy, robust shift and tried his best to inject Hibs with some purpose and vigour on a day when not everybody was firing on all cylinders 7
Vykintas Slivka: Fairly ineffective during the first half and missed a great chance with a header just after the resumption which could have changed things. Eventually replaced by Oliver Shaw 5
Dylan McGeouch: Always looked to get on the ball and was a bustling figure in the midfield as he tried to generate some spark when Hibs were toiling 6
Lewis Stevenson: Kept Patrick Roberts quiet in the personal battlegrounds. Huffed and puffed but awareness came into question as he played Celtic men onside for two of the goals 5
Brandon Barker: Showed plenty of pace and an inventive industry early on but was caught napping defensively at the opening goal as Lustig stole in behind him at the back post 7
Efe Ambrose: Took a sore one in the first half when he clattered into Lustig. It was a painful day all round for Ambrose and his troops on the backline 5
Anthony Stokes: Cut a rather forlorn figure at times and struggled to make his presence felt. Scored the penalty that got Hibs back in it but had a largely trying afternoon 5
Substitutes
Steven Whittaker: Thrust into action for the second-half and bolstered the Hibs resurgence. Neatly weighted pass set up the second goal which kept Hibs hopes alive 6
Martin Boyle: His emergence from the bench helped to energise Hibs as he got himself involved with plenty of surging advances. Showed plenty of hunger and drive 7
Oliver Shaw: Made the kind of explosive impact usually reserved for a stick of dynamite as he scored within seconds of coming on with a composed finish to breathe new life into an ultimately futile fightback 7
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
