CRAIG GORDON: Spectator in the first half apart from a straight-forward save from a Stokes free-kick, and could do little about Hibs goals. Odd moment in second half as he needlessly ventured from area to give the ball away, and kicking hugely suspect after that 5
MIKAEL LUSTIG: Looked to be in for a shift against the pacey Barker early on, but it was the full-back who sneaked in behind the winger at the other end to open the scoring for Celtic, before adding a second before the break with a little help from Hibs keeper Laidlaw 8
NIR BITTON: Never put under any real pressure by the Hibs attack early on, so was able to bring the ball out from the back and use his passing ability to good effect. Caught square for Hibs’ second though and Hibs may wish they had tested him sooner 6
DEDRYCK BOYATA: Easy afternoon until giving away a dubious penalty for a challenge on Boyle, when he looked to have got a fair chunk of the ball in fairness to him. Must take a share of the blame for Hibs’ second though, failing to spot the run of Shaw in behind 6
KIERAN TIERNEY: Drove forward from the left and was unlucky to see a second-half effort clip the post. Had more to think about after the break with the introduction of Boyle, but fought his corner well as you would expect 7
SCOTT BROWN: Good battle with McGinn in the midfield, and got his foot on the ball when required. Good showing from the Celtic captain 7
STUART ARMSTRONG: Provided the cross that led to Lustig’s opener, but had the odd slack moment with his distribution and looked visibly tired before the end, leading to his removal from the action 5
PATRICK ROBERTS: Quiet showing from the winger after an energy-sapping shift in Munich during the week. Struggled to make much of an impact before being replaced on the hour by Forrest 5
CALLUM MCGREGOR: Showed some tidy touches on the ball and always composed in advanced positions. Influence waned after the break though 6
SCOTT SINCLAIR: Not involved as much as he would have liked, but always dangerous when he did take part in the action 6
LEIGH GRIFFITHS: Put in his usual shift, but without the usual effect. Looked a little off the pace and no surprise to see him being given a rest with half an hour to go 5
SUBSTITUTES
JAMES FORREST: Given the last half an hour in place of Roberts and caused some problems for Stevenson down the right. Good effort saved by Laidlaw 4
MOUSSA DEMBELE: Took fully five minutes to make his presence felt as he took Sinclair’s mishit shot in his stride and coolly slotted beyond Laidlaw to restore Celtic’s two-goal advantage. Then hit a second as Celtic caught Hibs on the break to seal it late on with a fine finish 8
TOM ROGIC: On for last 20 minutes and not at his best on the ball, but still managed to set up the crucial fourth for Celtic in the dying moments 5
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
