FORMER Aberdeen and Dundee United striker David Goodwillie has joined Clyde until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old was released by Plymouth Argyle after he was convicted of rape by a civil court in January following a high profile case.

The League 2 club announced the signing via its official website, confirming that Goodwillie will join the squad to face Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

Goodwillie had been playing with Perthshire team Doune Castle Amateurs since leaving Plymouth, but has now been offered a route back into the SPFL with the Ladbrokes League 2 strugglers.

The frontman scored 29 goals in 117 appearances for Dundee United, and has been capped three times by Scotland.
