ABERDEEN pair Adam Rooney and Jonny Hayes have been named in Martin O'Neill's 39-man provisional squad for games against Wales and Iceland.

Hayes attracted interest from Cardiff City in January after a string of impressive performances for the Dons, while Rooney has scored 16 goals for the Pittodrie side so far this season.

Ireland host Wales in a World Cup qualifier on 24 March before a friendly against Iceland four days later.

O'Neill's side currently top qualifying Group D after three wins from their opening four games.
